If you ignore important work in the spring, you shouldn't count on a solid harvest.

Many gardeners wonder how to get a lot of large and sweet gooseberries.

This should be taken care of in early spring, otherwise it will be too late. Powdery mildew is a major danger for gooseberries.

Powdery mildew

It all starts with a white coating on the leaves. The affected area gradually increases, and at the same time the plant organ that is necessary for photosynthesis withers.

Due to powdery mildew, the harvest can be reduced by 30-50%, and in advanced cases, the bushes will not bear fruit at all.

What to do in spring

At the first opportunity, the bushes should be treated against powdery mildew. For this, you can use any fungicidal agents that are available in garden stores (Bayleton, Quadris, Rayok, Skor, Tilt, Topaz, Topsin, Thiovit Jet, Fundazim, etc.).

Folk remedies include iodine - 10 ml per 10 liters of water. Soap shavings are added to the solution so that the liquid does not flow onto the ground. Before spraying, the bushes are pre-sprayed with ordinary water.
