The Right Time to Plant Eggplant Seeds: Don't Miss the Moment

As is known, eggplants are a crop that does not grow quickly, especially when it comes to the seedling period and after planting in the ground.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said that it takes up to 100 days from germination to ripening of the fruits of early varieties.

If we talk about mid-season eggplants, this period is up to 140 days.

Many summer residents plant seedlings that are 50-60 days old in their permanent “place of residence”.

This is their fatal mistake, because it has been proven that the yield of such seedlings is 50-60% less than that of those that are 70-80 days old.

Based on this knowledge, we can conclude that for growing in a greenhouse, eggplant seeds should be placed in the ground on February 1.

It is worth transplanting them into a greenhouse in the second half of April.

If you plan to grow eggplants in open ground, the time to sow seeds comes on February 25. They are ready to "move" to the garden bed in mid-May, when they are 70-80 days old.
