Raspberries are very healthy, but the plant itself is very capricious and requires several prunings throughout the year.

Spring pruning of raspberries

Two-year-old plants should be pruned first.

Pruning should be done a few days after the snow melts.

First, you need to inspect the bush and cut off all frozen and broken shoots.

It is also important to prune the tops of good shoots down to healthy buds.

Those that have already fruited are also removed so that they do not shade the sun and do not take away the nutrients that are necessary for young shoots.

On annual growths, the tops are cut to 15 cm.

The bush should be no higher than 1.5 meters. This is more for convenience, so that you don’t have to bend the branches during harvesting.

All cut shoots should be burned.
