To ensure that beets and carrots grow sweet, you should follow certain rules for caring for these crops.

Before sowing beets and carrots, there is no need to add organic fertilizers to the soil, especially fresh manure.

This will increase the nitrogen level, causing the vegetables to taste of iodine, the color to be unnatural, and the appearance to be crooked and twisted.

These two crops love good lighting, so they are sown in the sun.

Replanting in the same area is possible only after three years.

You can plant peas, early potatoes, cucumbers, onions on the plot, and after them, next year you can sow beets and carrots.

These two vegetables like neutral soil. If it is slightly acidic, then the sugar content in the fruits will decrease.

To neutralize the acid, liming must be carried out. This is done in the fall, once every 6-8 years.

You will need 0.3-0.5 kg of lime per 1 square meter, which must be scattered over the area and mixed with the soil using a rake.

Fertilizing these two crops is also necessary.

In summer, you can add a solution of nitroammophoska - 30-40 grams per 10 liters of water. Water the rows with the solution, 2-3 liters at a time, and then with regular water. In August, carrots and beets need to be fed with micronutrient fertilizers containing manganese and boron.

Then the root crops will be enriched with vitamins and sugar. For 10 liters of water, you need to add 1 teaspoon of boron and manganese, and then water the rows with the solution, after which watering is carried out with ordinary water.

Wood ash also contains boron, manganese, micro and macro elements.

You need to add half a glass per meter and level it together with the soil, then water it. Beets like table or sea salt.

During the growing season, it is fed with a saline solution at least three times.

To do this, add 10-15 grams of salt to 10 liters of water. Watering is carried out at 5 liters per 1 square meter.

Fertilize carrots at the end of August using boric acid. Add 1 teaspoon of boron to 1 liter of hot water, then dilute the solution with 10 liters of water. Wait until it cools completely, then spray the plants.
