Snow on the trees
Usually, summer residents try to clear trees from stuck snow. But this applies to old trees with an incorrectly formed crown. Therefore, if there is no threat that the branches will break under the load, the snow can be left alone. In other cases, they put up supports and tie the branches with ropes. And if the shoots grow horizontally, it is better to shake off the snow. In addition, this will serve as additional protection from frost and rodents.
Covering with snow
Some plants can suffer significantly over the winter due to the lack of snow cover. Roots that freeze in the soil take a long time to recover, so you need to take care of this too. During snow removal, snow from paths and buildings should be taken to the root zone, but you do not need to trample it down. The layer should be loose, and trampled snow is not a hindrance for mice.
Vaccination sites
It is necessary, if grafting was done in the lower part of the trunk, to cover them with snow. If the grafting site is high, straw and burlap are used.
Snow crust
It is necessary to break up the snow crust. This is done with a rake or pitchfork. It is not necessary to trample the entire area. It is also important to understand this point if we are talking about a lawn - the lawn grass should not be covered with an ice crust, just as you should not trample snow paths through the lawn - in the spring there will be "bald spots".

Despite all its positive qualities, snow has one, but very significant, drawback. In spring, snowdrifts become heavy and sticky. During night frosts, a dense crust forms on their surface, which can cause plants to suffocate or freeze.
