The plum tree produces abundant shoots, and if they are not removed in time, the plantation can soon turn into an impassable thicket.
Herbicides have a lethal effect in this regard, but not all sensible summer residents will agree to use chemicals under fruit crops. There is one way.
Young trees not only take up useful space, but also greatly weaken the tree, as they grow from large roots. The harvest may soon deteriorate significantly.
You can kill more than one day to dig up the soil and carefully cut off the emerging shoots. It is effective, but applicable only when there is nothing special to do at the dacha. The shoots go to a depth of 35-40 cm. The amount of work can be easily imagined.
A much more effective option is to use mulch made from cardboard or newspapers.
To do this, in the trunk area, approximately half a meter from the trunk, you need to lay out sheets of cardboard or newspaper, water them generously, tamp them down, cover them with black film or roofing felt, and sprinkle soil on top.
The plum shoots will not remind of themselves for a long time, but at the same time, grass will continue to grow in place of the protective layer, or flowers can be planted.
