The strawberry harvest is in the hands of the gardener. The main thing here is not to hesitate and apply the first portion of fertilizers on time.
We will tell you when and, most importantly, what to feed strawberry bushes with in early spring, so that you can harvest for your own joy and for your neighbors to admire.
You need to start as soon as the snow melts from the beds. In some regions this is mid-March, and in other regions – April.
1. After the snow melts, strawberry bushes can be sprinkled with rotted mullein.
2. Another option is to prepare an aqueous solution of mullein (1:5) and use it to water the bush.
3. You can prepare a solution of iodine and potassium permanganate. It will protect the plantings from diseases, and at the same time will act as a fertilizer. To do this, dissolve 30 drops of iodine and 1/5 teaspoon of potassium permanganate in 10 liters of water. Use for watering under the root. Do not store.
4. You can feed the beds with wood ash - this is a natural source of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. It is better not to mix ash with other components. For 1 sq. m add 2 glasses of dry wood ash or prepare an infusion (0.5 liters of ash per 10 liters of water) and leave for a day. When ready, filter and dilute 1:10. Use for watering.
5. 1 kg of dry bread should be dissolved in 10 liters of water, left to ferment for 3 days and strained when ready. 0.5 liters of concentrate is dissolved in 10 liters of water. Use for watering.
6. You can make a herbal infusion - chop up woodlice, couch grass, celandine, nettle and dandelion and fill a 10-liter bucket with them to ½. Fill with water and leave to infuse for 3-5 days. Dilute 0.5 liters of concentrate in 10 liters of water for watering under each bush.
