How else can you use eggshells in the garden: not only as fertilizer

Despite the fact that farmers still cannot come to a consensus regarding eggshells, many summer residents do not refuse to use them on their plots.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the benefits that eggshells can bring to plants.

As you know, plants need drainage for normal development.

A drainage layer must be present in pots with indoor plants, containers intended for seedlings, as well as in planting holes prepared for fruit tree seedlings.

Large pieces of eggshells are quite suitable for this purpose. Unlike many recipes for eggshell-based fertilizers, in this case the shells should not be ground into dust.

It is enough to break the shells and send them to the bottom of the pot or planting hole.

If we talk about fruit trees, this option is suitable for stone fruit crops, for example, plums, cherries, apricots and others.

This way, the trees will be able to obtain calcium from the eggshells, which will eventually end up in the soil.
