Since the planting season is coming up for all summer residents, information about pulling out seedlings will never be superfluous.

An expert of the online publication, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained why gardeners have to deal with such an unpleasant phenomenon and what experienced farmers do to take control of the situation.

Why is elongated seedlings a problem?

The answer is quite simple – such seedlings will have a hard time growing and taking root in a new place after planting in a greenhouse or open ground. This means that you may never get a harvest. In addition, these plants are very susceptible to various diseases.

Usually, two factors lead to seedlings becoming elongated: over-dense planting and insufficient light.

If you are unlucky and the seedlings begin to stretch, try strengthening the seedlings.

For this, you can use ammonia. For 5 liters of clean water, you will need 5 drops of ammonia.

Another well-proven remedy is iodine. For the same volume of water, you will need the same amount of a rich brown alcohol solution - 5 drops.
