The second half of winter is approaching, which means it’s time to remember the fundamental principles of proper farming.

In addition to crop rotation, one should not forget about the proximity of vegetables and berries in the beds. Here are the 7 most unsuccessful vegetable pairs that are best excluded in advance.

1. Onions and peas

It's not just onions, it also includes leeks, chives and other relatives, i.e. even garlic. Such a neighborhood will not end well for peas.

2. Potatoes and tomatoes

These are related crops from the nightshade family. This means that there will be a mutual exchange of diseases and pests, which will certainly affect the quality and quantity of the harvest. The same applies to peppers and eggplants.

3. Peppers and beans

In this case, the plantings may suffer from anthracnose. By the way, cucumbers, melons, watermelons and squash, as well as strawberries, are not particularly resistant to the disease. Therefore, their proximity to peppers (as well as peas, beans and beans) is excluded.

4. Carrots and dill

They say that dill slows down the growth of root crops. There is no confirmation or refutation of this information.

5. Cabbage and grapes

In this case, the taste of grapes deteriorates. It is better to plant basil, legumes, clover or blackberries next to the vine, and dill, mint, chamomile or thyme with cabbage.

6. Lettuce and broccoli

Neither together with cabbage nor after it will lettuce seeds germinate or will grow extremely poorly.

7. Mustard and beetroot

We are talking about leaf mustard. It is also not recommended to plant the plant with red beans and sunflowers. It is better to grow it together with broccoli or cauliflower, lettuce and asparagus, or onions.
