A gifted bouquet of roses does not please its owner for long. Cut flowers begin to fade and dry up.

Is it possible to prolong the life of a beautiful flower?

Choosing a flower

Export flowers are not suitable for rooting. For transportation, the plant is fed with various chemicals, which will not allow the root system to develop.

Only flowers from Russia are suitable for this. When growing them, a minimum amount of harmful substances is used.

When choosing, you should also pay attention to the color of the plant. Exotic varieties and light cream shades are not suitable for rooting.

The donor stem should be dense, hard and elastic. Its color is dark green, without darkening.

Methods of rooting

There are several ways to root a cutting:

1. Planting in soil under a dome. Drainage is placed on the bottom of the flowerpot. Soil for roses is poured on top. It has a special composition and will help the formation of the root system. The stem is dipped in a growth stimulator for the roots and deepened into the flowerpot.

The stem is covered with a plastic container. The soil is kept moist. When the first leaves appear, the dome is removed. When 3 leaves form, the plant is ready for transplantation into a deeper container.

2. Using a banana or potato. Cut off the eyes of the potato. Make a 5 cm deep hole on the surface. Dip the stem in rooting compound and insert it into the hole. Cover the potato with a dome and spray it daily.

Instead of a potato, a banana is used. It is cut into slices and the cuttings are inserted. The important condition is the depth.

The stem should not pierce the slice all the way through. Otherwise, the plant will start to rot.

3. In water. This is the most famous method. The water should be boiled with the addition of aspirin and activated carbon.

To create a nutrient medium, add a few drops of Kornevin to the water. Transparent containers are used to observe the development of the root system. A film is put on the container. Such a greenhouse must be stored in a dark place.

A popular and beloved method

Florists advise trying a proven rooting method. For this you will need: 2 black garbage bags, a sheet of newspaper, a stem.

An oblique cut is made above the lower bud in the direction of the bud. The bud is cut off and a straight cut is formed. There are 3-4 buds left on the cutting.

The bag is spread out on the surface. A wet sheet of newspaper is placed on it. The stem is tightly wrapped in the newspaper.

It is important that there are no protruding ends. If there are, use 2 wet sheets. You should get a tight roll.

It is packed in a black bag without air access. A second bag is put on top to create a greenhouse effect.

The time it takes for roots to form depends on the temperature and lighting in the room. To speed up the process, it is better to choose a cool, dark place.

On average, the first roots appear in a month. It is important not to let the newspaper dry out and to moisten it regularly.

When a root system growth forms, the stem is transplanted outside under a jar or into a flower pot.
