The soil for seedlings determines the success of the sowing campaign, as well as the quality of the seeds and other tips and techniques of agricultural technology.
Some summer residents buy soil in the store, others prepare the mixture themselves. We will tell you what is needed for this and whether it is possible to make a universal soil with your own hands.
Before you get down to business and start buying ingredients, you need to clarify what the requirements for the soil mixture are.
Firstly, it should be a loose and easily saturated with oxygen and moisture composition, with neutral acidity (within 6.5-7 pH).
Secondly, the soil must be sufficiently rich in humus.
Thirdly, no larvae, pests or pathogenic environment.
If you dug up soil from the garden and it’s all heavy loam, add peat and sand.
In the case of sandstones, clay will not cause any damage – it will retain moisture.
In addition to these additives, humus, compost, manure and other organic matter are added.
Acidity is regulated by adding lime and wood ash, but dolomite flour is the most effective.
Some substrates are suitable for tomatoes, others for cucumbers, but this one is the most universal. You will need:
In addition, 20 grams of superphosphate, 10-15 grams of urea and 1 glass of wood ash are added to 10 liters of the prepared mixture.
