To get an excellent cherry harvest, it is not enough to simply plant it in a sunny place.
The tree requires attention in autumn and spring. If the plant was not looked after before winter, then in spring you will have to work twice as hard.
Whitewash
The first thing to start with is whitewashing the wood. For this, you can buy a ready-made mixture or prepare the solution yourself.
One of the simplest recipes: mix 2.5 kg of lime and 150 g of wood glue in 10 liters of water.
Trimming
The procedure is carried out with the arrival of warmth, but before the buds swell. Old, broken and diseased branches are removed. They are of no use, but they take away the tree's strength and reduce the yield.
Top dressing
In April-May, the soil in the tree trunk circle is loosened and mulched (peat, compost, manure). Complex fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is added.
Special attention to pests. If there are no obvious signs, this does not mean that they will not appear in a couple of weeks. For prevention, experienced gardeners always spray the cherry from pests.
