Forget about white bloom in flower pots: what to do before it's too late

At first glance, white plaque in flower pots seems harmless, but in reality, everything is not so simple.

The coating looks like a "crust" and covers not only the soil, but also the edges of the pot. Its color can be not only white, but also red.

The white part is lime (calcium) and the red part is rust. Some people mistakenly think it is mold. It is fluffy and airy.

The formation of plaque is related to the quality of water used for irrigation. The concentration of various deposits in the soil does not bring any benefit, and in some cases can harm the plant.

Experienced gardeners advise watering "green pets" with settled or distilled water. Experts do not recommend boiled liquid, because after heat treatment it does not contain any useful substances or oxygen.

The ideal option, according to flower growers, is water from an aquarium and precipitation collected during rain.

But sometimes a white coating can form even in cases where the water for irrigation meets all the requirements. In this case, we are talking about an excess of fertilizers or poor-quality soil.
