As spring approaches, summer residents begin planning not only their vegetable gardens. Life around flower beds is also in full swing.

No one will argue that the most popular representatives of ornamental crops are bulbous flowers, the planting of which is thought about as March approaches.

We will tell you how to properly prepare bulbous plants for spring planting. You can start as soon as all the snow melts in the flower beds.

It is at this time that the soil is well moistened.

1. Preparation

So, after a long winter storage, you need to carefully inspect the bulbs. If something has spoiled, it is better to throw it away immediately, so as not to breed infection. There will be no use from diseased or dried out bulbs. Dried ones are soaked in a fungicide solution for a day to disinfect from fungus and other diseases. Only after this do they begin to germinate.

2. Landing

Prepare sterile containers and suitable balanced soil. Place the treated bulbs in holes two sizes deep, sprinkle with soil, and water. After sprouts appear in the containers, add soil up to 1 centimeter. Transplant the flowers after warm weather has finally set in – day and night.

3. Transplantation

For continuous growth of bulbous plants, choose areas with well-drained and nutritious soil. Coarse sand is added to dense soil. The seedlings are placed at the same depth as when planting bulbs in containers, watered, and later the soil is compacted.

Planting without germination

You will have to wait for a warm and fine spring day. The soil should warm up to 10 degrees Celsius. The planting depth and care technique are the same.

These flowers do not require special care, but without basic attention and care there will be no seedlings and the bulbs may die.
