Anyone who has ever been interested in buying a tuberous begonia has probably been unpleasantly surprised by the prices set for an adult plant.
An expert of the online publication "Belnovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh suggested an effective way to save money - grow begonia yourself from seeds.
Fortunately, the process of growing a luxurious perennial is not associated with difficulties, so you can easily become the owner of a flower, spending little money on this purpose.
However, it is worth remembering that since begonia does not tolerate frost, it should never be left outside for the winter.
To preserve the plant for the next year, experienced gardeners advise, first of all, to trim the shoots.
Then you will have to shake out the flowerpot and look for tubers in it, which need to be freed from old roots.
Leave the underground part of the begonia on the windowsill until the remaining shoots dry out. Store the tuberous begonia in the refrigerator, wrapped in newspaper.
After all the manipulations, the tubers can be used in the spring to form new bushes.
