Orchids need to be watered correctly, because their health and long flowering depend on it.

Orchid flowering duration

It all depends on its variety. Most people grow Phalaenopsis orchids in their homes. They are easier to care for and look beautiful.

The flowering period of this orchid depends on several factors. Usually it lasts for 4 months.

However, if you maintain optimal temperature and watering, you can extend the flowering period for a few more weeks. Large orchids bloom for 9 months.

Frequency of watering orchids

It can be very difficult to determine the frequency of watering, especially for inexperienced flower owners. First, carefully examine the plant.

The soil should be slightly damp, but do not overwater the orchid. It is better to water the plant rarely, but abundantly. The substrate can be assessed by touch.

If it is damp inside, it is better not to water it, if it is dry, you can add some water.

Rules for watering orchids

There is no need to use a watering can. It is best to place the plant in a basin and pour water into it. Only place it in a case that has drainage holes.

The water for watering should be at room temperature. Then remove the casing from the flower and put it aside to let the water drain.

Then the orchid will get enough water. Otherwise, the roots will start to rot or fungus will appear.

Watering to extend flowering period

Orchids do not like tap water. It contains too much calcium and magnesium. Such water is not suitable for this flower.

It is better to use boiled and cooled water. Distilled water will also work. Hard water can be softened.

Water the flower with lemon water or use citric acid. A pinch is enough for one liter. Thanks to this, orchids will bloom for a long time.
