Before sowing seeds for seedlings, gardeners must sort and check them for germination, and they must germinate and bathe them in various disinfectant solutions.
However, all these efforts will not bear fruit if one important detail is left unattended. This concerns the care of the soil.
When disinfecting seeds, gardeners completely forget that the pathogen is often hidden in the planting soil. And this should not be done, even if the soil was purchased in a store.
Therefore, you need to carry out a few simple manipulations or go to the store for special products if you are not afraid of frost.
Why do you need to disinfect the soil? This is not only a fight against pathogenic environments. This way you can deal with insect pests and their brood, as well as weed seeds.
The easiest option is to expose the soil to frost. While the thermometer drops to -15 and even lower at night, this is the most suitable time.
The fact is that the optimal temperature for soil freezing is considered to be -15–20 degrees Celsius.
As a last resort, you can stuff the container with soil into the freezer. The result is the same.
The soil must be kept in the cold for 5 days. The soil is defrosted for another 7 days at room temperature.
Then the procedure is repeated twice more, in the same order, after which there is no need to worry about the health of the seedlings.
