Mistakes that prevent a good zucchini harvest from happening: what inexperienced gardeners do wrong

Even an unpretentious zucchini can be brought to a state where the crop completely refuses to bear fruit.

As the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, the shady side can ruin the harvest, since zucchini love the sun with all their heart and cannot stand drafts.

In addition, if the plant leaves are lying on the ground, there is a high probability of mold appearing and pests becoming active, which does not have the best effect on the condition of the crop.

If the harvest is unsuccessful, check what kind of soil the vegetable is forced to grow in. The best option is neutral or slightly alkaline soil (loamy or sandy loam).

Lack of fertilizers also negatively affects the quantity and quality of fruits.

Experienced gardeners advise using nitrogen fertilizers 10 days after planting. Before flowering, add mullein infusion to the beds, and when the vines are blooming, use potassium fertilizer.

Fertilizers are also needed during the fruiting period. For this purpose, it is worth stocking up on a mixture consisting of urea, potassium sulfate and superphosphate, dissolved in water.

Finally, do not forget about the rules of crop rotation - you are unlikely to be able to treat your neighbors with zucchini if you plant the crop in a plot where cucumbers, tomatoes, pumpkins or the same zucchini used to grow.
