Many summer residents are unable to preserve the harvested garlic even until the New Year, let alone for longer periods.

For unknown reasons, cloves left in storage begin to turn black and dry out, losing weight.

To avoid this problem, use three tricks popular among knowledgeable gardeners, which they resort to in order not to lose the garlic they have collected from their plot.

1. Storage temperature

Perhaps the main factor that influences how long vegetables will last is the temperature in the room.

The optimal temperature for storing garlic is between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius.

2. Ventilation

Garlic will not be protected from spoilage even at low temperatures if the place where it was left is poorly ventilated.

3. Dry sand

If you were unable to find a secluded corner in your apartment with good ventilation and a suitable temperature, use dry sand - you need to place the heads of garlic in it after they have been dug up.
