An orchid in a pot often becomes an excellent gift - for New Year, birthday, March 8 and other significant events.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what to do if you suddenly became the owner of a phalaenopsis.

First of all, do not rush to get rid of the plastic film in which the flower was wrapped.

This film maintains the microclimate and protects the plant from sudden temperature changes, so it is worth leaving this kind of shelter for at least 1 day.

Secondly, do not rush to place the orchid in the same row with other indoor plants - instead, after a day, carefully examine the flower to make sure that there are no insects there.

Thirdly, after the film is removed, soak a cotton pad in water and wipe all the leaves with it to wash away the dust.

Don't forget to inspect the roots and leaves of the plant, and after the "inspection" place the phalaenopsis where it will receive diffused light and there will be no drafts.

In addition, the orchid's place should be away from heating devices and other indoor plants. The newcomer will have to spend 7 to 10 days here (no need to water it during this time).

After adaptation, you can moisten the soil in the pot with settled water.
