Among the reasons, Kovrigin identified a reduction in exports, high volumes of parallel imports, geopolitical instability and significant inflation.
The expert recalled that the draft budget of the Russian Federation for next year includes an exchange rate of 96-97 rubles per dollar.
However, it seems that its further gradual decline will be allowed, Kovrigin predicted.
Answering the question of whether to buy dollars, the economist noted that they should not form the basis of a portfolio.
Spreads on the American currency in banks and exchange offices remain extremely high, the expert stated.
He also noted that it is impossible to withdraw dollars purchased in non-cash form due to restrictions imposed by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
To protect savings from devaluation, Kovrigin advised investing in replacement bonds of Russian companies.
