Many people believe that sweeter pears contain more calories than apples, but this is not true.

The calorie content of pears and apples is approximately the same.

At the same time, a pear has fewer calories than an apple, and an apple has fewer carbohydrates than a pear:

On average, a pear contains 42 kcal and 10.9 g of carbohydrates per 100 g, and an apple contains 47 kcal and 9.8 g of carbohydrates per 100 g.

This small difference is magnified if you are planning to snack on baked fruit, which is often done by dieters. Because the food loses water during cooking, its caloric content becomes higher than that of the same food in its raw state.

Baked pear contains 50 kcal per 100 g, and baked apple contains 89 kcal per 100 g.
