Where to Store Books in an Apartment: 5 Options with Pros and Cons

Placing a library in a separate room in an ordinary apartment is a luxury that few can afford.

However, books need to be stored somewhere, so the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, has some very good options.

It's not a separate room, of course, but it's still better than nothing.

Closet

If you choose a model with glass doors, you will get a good view of the library, which will become a real decoration for the interior. It will not take you much time to choose the right book.

Cabinets with solid doors protect books from dust and ultraviolet rays. However, you will have to periodically air out the cabinet and clean it.

Cardboard boxes or baskets

If the publications are rarely read, they can be put into boxes or square baskets and put on one of the shelves. But if you need the book every day, this method will not work.

Plasterboard built-in structures

With these structures, you can place books in niches above doors, windows, beds, etc. The downside is that in some cases you will need a stepladder to access the library.

Rack

If you compare a rack with a cabinet, the former is still more convenient, since it takes up less space, is mobile and leaves more "air" in the room. And the view of the books is good, and you don't have to put in much effort to get the volume you need.

Shelves

Thanks to shelves, you get the opportunity to save space in the room. There are many suitable places for placing shelves - above the table, chest of drawers or bed. In addition, shelves come in different shapes and can serve as an interesting decorative element.
