The slightest mistake when choosing curtains can lead to them making your apartment interior look cheap – no matter how much money you spent on its design.
What you should take a closer look at in order to avoid getting into trouble with curtains, was explained by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino .
You shouldn’t even look at fabrics that are too thin, shiny or rough – they look very budget-friendly a priori.
Curtains that are too short or narrow tend to look unfinished and therefore cheap. Consult a specialist who can correctly calculate the fluffiness factor and choose the appropriate length of the panels.
If curtains are not hung correctly or if poor quality fastenings were used for this purpose, they can appear flimsy and cheap.
Products with uneven seams, crooked lines or irregular shapes will definitely not look attractive, which will negatively affect the rest of the interior.
Some curtain designs, especially complex designs with lambrequins, require a lot of space. In a small room, they may look out of place and create the impression that they were bought on a sale website or taken from another home where they were no longer needed.
If the room is small, you should not overload the composition with too many details. This rule also works in the opposite direction: on a large window, a transparent curtain or short curtains can look lonely and the whole project may seem unfinished.
