In Soviet times, heating radiators were painted mainly with silver paint. In modern houses, white is more often used. But more and more often, it is proposed to diversify the color range.

For example, there is an opinion that if you paint the radiator a dark color, it will seem that it heats better. In fact, the temperature will remain the same.

Let's find out what colors this element can be painted in and when it's better to refrain from the idea.

Don't paint it

1. If the battery consists of thin heat exchanger plates, then painting is contraindicated for them. The temperature in the room may decrease due to the paint layer.

2. For the same reason, convectors should not be painted.

3. Sectional radiators made of aluminum or other alloys. They are coated with a special composition that does not lose its key properties throughout the entire period of operation.

Selecting paint

It must be heat-resistant paint that can withstand heating up to 85-90 degrees and should not emit hazardous substances when heated.

In terms of color, the options depend on the imagination of the residents, but most often they choose paint to match the color of the walls.

How to paint

You can use a spray gun or a regular paint brush.

But the main condition is painting after the radiator has cooled down. Therefore, you need to either turn off the heating, if possible, or wait for the utilities to do it.
