How to bake potatoes deliciously: sauce makes all the difference

Potatoes can be baked in the oven in a rustic style, or with meat, but it is better in a creamy cheese sauce.

This side dish, amazing in taste and beauty, will not be embarrassing to serve at a festive table.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova - cook, fourth-category baker told how to cook and what is needed.

You will need:

  • potatoes 800-850 g;
  • mozzarella 50-60 gr;
  • cheese (hard) 70 g;
  • cream (fat content 15-20%) 70 ml;
  • milk 200 ml;
  • butter 25 g;
  • flour 12 g;
  • garlic, pepper and salt to taste.

How to cook

1. Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut them into thin slices, grease the baking dish with vegetable oil and place the mixture in it.

2. Grate two types of cheese on a coarse grater.

3. Melt the butter, add flour, stir until the lumps dissolve and keep on the heat, stirring for another 20-30 seconds.

4. Then, stirring with a whisk, add milk and bring the sauce to a boil, then pour in the cream.

5. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and add dried garlic and spices, stir.

6. Add grated cheese and mozzarella to the sauce, bring to a boil again and cook, stirring over low heat for 1-2 minutes.

7. When the cheese has melted, pour the sauce over the potatoes, cover with foil and place in an oven preheated to 190 degrees.

After 40 minutes, remove the pan, set the temperature to 180 degrees and bake for another 20 minutes.

Serve sprinkled with fresh herbs. Enjoy your meal!
