In our country, buckwheat is one of the most popular products, but in Europe it is practically not consumed.
We'll tell you why it's not customary to eat this cereal in European countries.
The fact is that in Europe buckwheat is not cultivated at all for mass consumption.
There are several reasons for this. Firstly, buckwheat is a very capricious crop, and specific weather conditions are needed for its cultivation.
Secondly, special equipment is needed to harvest buckwheat. Thirdly, buckwheat processing is carried out in several stages.
In addition, after harvesting, buckwheat cannot be sown in the same field; it must “rest” for a season.
And the fifth reason is unprofitability. Buckwheat is a low-yielding crop (10 centners per hectare).
In connection with the above, buckwheat is grown in Europe only as feed for livestock, to improve the taste of meat and sell it at a higher price.
