To make pearl barley tasty, it must be washed and soaked before cooking.
It is recommended to soak pearl barley for about three hours, but it can be longer. After soaking, be sure to drain the water and rinse the cereal again.
Next, pour water over the pearl barley (three parts water to one part cereal), bring to a boil, add salt and cook over low heat for 30-40 minutes.
