Contrary to popular belief, low-fat cottage cheese is not healthier than full-fat cottage cheese.
Zukhra Pavlova, an endocrinologist at the Moscow State University Clinic, told us in her Telegram channel what fat content of cottage cheese is best to buy in a store.
As Pavlova explained, the healthiest cottage cheese is one with a fat content of 5-9%.
Since cottage cheese has a high insulin index, it is recommended to combine it with slow carbohydrates (grain bread, vegetables).
You shouldn't eat cottage cheese with sour cream, jam and honey, this significantly increases its caloric content. You can use stevia or erythritol as a sweetener.
It is also not recommended to drink cottage cheese with tea or coffee. They impair the absorption of calcium, iron, vitamins A and B contained in cottage cheese.
