Potato pies can be turned into a real treat for children and adults if you use the “right” filling.
Yulia Arkhipova, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, shared ideas on what can be added inside the pies.
It is best to use wild mushrooms, but if you don’t have them, oyster mushrooms or champignons will do. The mushrooms should be finely chopped and fried together with the onion, not forgetting to add salt and pepper.
Instead of mushrooms, you can use minced meat or chicken. It is enough to add 1/3 of the minced meat from the volume of potatoes. The minced meat also needs to be fried together with the onion until done. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Finely chopped fresh or salted lard will perfectly complement the potato filling.
Another option is smoked bacon, which should also be fried together with onions.
Each of these options will make the filling for the pies even more delicious, and your family will definitely appreciate your efforts.
