How to Make a Delicious Christmas "Babka": A Great Festive Dessert

Many are accustomed to the fact that regular babka is made from potatoes. This hearty dish is usually served with sour cream and herbs.

But when it comes to holidays, you can forget your usual recipes.

However, today we are talking about sweet and aromatic pastries that will perfectly decorate any table.

Ingredients

To prepare the Christmas babka you need to take:

  • milk - 100 ml;
  • yeast - 7 g;
  • sugar - 250 g;
  • flour - 500-550 g;
  • eggs - 4 pcs.;
  • butter - 250 g;
  • cocoa - 30 g;
  • dark chocolate - 100-120 g;
  • oranges - 3 pcs.

How to make dessert

First, the milk needs to be slightly warmed up. Then, instant yeast and 100 g of sugar need to be added to the warm drink.

In a separate container, mix the sifted flour with salt (a pinch is enough). Then both masses need to be combined and mixed. As soon as the dough is ready, then you need to mix in 150 g of butter.

Once the mass is homogeneous, it should be wrapped in film and left for an hour and a half at room temperature. After this time, it is advisable to move the dough to the refrigerator.

During this period, you need to start preparing other ingredients for baking.

The orange zest needs to be grated and the juice squeezed out.

In a saucepan, mix 50 g of sugar, cocoa, chocolate, zest and the remaining amount of butter. Keep it all on low heat. As soon as the mass becomes homogeneous, first cool it at room temperature, and then put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

The finished dough needs to be rolled out, the filling spread over it, and then all that remains is to roll the dough into a roll.

A more interesting shape can be achieved by cutting the pieces lengthwise and intertwining the parts, and then joining the ends of the dough. The result will be a shape that resembles a wreath.

The preparation should be left at room temperature for another half an hour or an hour.

Then the pie should be put in the oven for 40 minutes. It should be baked at 180 degrees.

Once the Christmas babka is ready, it needs to be poured with a heated mixture of sugar and orange juice.
