Have your household members stopped perceiving Olivier salad as a festive dish?
Then it’s worth preparing a salad without adding peas to it.
Contrary to popular belief, this component is not at all essential for Olivier salad.
On the contrary, using an alternative ingredient will update the dish and make it unusual: household members and guests will clearly be pleased with the new version of the dish.
Instead of peas, you can add another member of the legume family to the salad.
We are talking about beans. It is advisable to use boiled ones.
Of course, you can also make canned beans an ingredient in Olivier. But you need to understand that tomato sauce is clearly an unnecessary ingredient for the dish.
Beans will update the dish and make its taste bright and unusual. At the same time, Olivier will not be turned into a completely different dish. You will just get a slightly different version of the salad.
Peas can be replaced with corn or capers.
But you need to understand that both components will greatly change the taste of the salad. Aromas will appear that are not typical for the dish. Perhaps the result will not be Olivier.
So, the corn will add sweetness, and the capers will give the dish a salty taste.
