Cabbage for stuffed cabbage can be prepared the old-fashioned way, that is, periodically dip it in boiling water and then pinch off the leaves from the head of cabbage.
The method does not guarantee that all the leaves will remain intact, and all this fuss with boiling water is tiring. There is a simpler, technologically advanced method.
We'll tell you how to prepare cabbage for stuffed cabbage rolls without grandma's secrets and tricks.
An alternative way to prepare cabbage for this dish is to freeze the head. But this also takes a long time.
It's much easier to use a microwave.
1. Choose a head of cabbage that will fit entirely into the microwave oven. You can use white cabbage, Chinese cabbage, and Savoy cabbage.
2. Remove the upper, wilted and dirty leaves. Wash the head of cabbage in running water and remove the stalk.
3. Next, you can take a baking bag, place the cabbage head in it, tie it up and make a few holes. It is not recommended to use cling film.
4. A head of cabbage weighing 1.5 kg will be ready in 12-15 minutes with a device power of 1000 W.
5. When the timer goes off, leave the cabbage in the microwave for 5 minutes, then remove the hot head of cabbage and remove the leaves.
If you are making cabbage rolls from Chinese cabbage, you should take it apart while it is fresh and process the leaves for 4-5 minutes.
