What to do with strawberries before eating to get rid of small insects: simple treatment of berries

When buying strawberries or picking berries from bushes growing in your own garden, take a closer look - sometimes you can see small insects on them.
This is quite normal - they live on the stems, so sometimes they remain on strawberries even after the berries have been picked and sorted before purchase.

Wash the berries
Place the strawberries in clean water and then rinse them gently.
Remove all visible dirt and leaves.
Inspect each berry to remove any visible dirt, leaves, or stems.
Soak the strawberries
Once you have removed all visible dirt or debris, let the berries sit in clean water for a few minutes.
Rinse again
After soaking, drain the water and then rinse the strawberries under running water.
Rub each strawberry lightly with your hands to ensure thorough cleaning.
Dry with a towel or air dry
After rinsing, you can either pat the strawberries dry using clean kitchen or paper towels, or simply let the berries air dry on a clean wire rack or paper towels.
Use a little vinegar
If you're concerned about potential bacteria or want to enhance the cleaning process, you can make a vinegar solution by mixing one part vinegar with three parts water.
Soak the washed strawberries in this mixture for a few minutes, then wash them again and dry them as above.
