How to cook cabbage steak in the oven: an unusual presentation of a well-known vegetable

The only people who don't like cabbage dishes are those who haven't tried truly tasty and original dishes made from it.

Not only vegetarians will love this vegetable steak. You can serve it as a main course or a side dish. In any case, the treat will be appreciated and asked for more.

Ingredients:

  • white cabbage – 500 gr.;
  • garlic – 2 cloves;
  • vegetable oil – 5 tablespoons;
  • water – 2 tablespoons;
  • thyme – 2 sprigs;
  • dry oregano – 1 teaspoon;
  • salt, black pepper, fresh hot pepper – to taste.

Preparation

1. Chop the thyme and pepper on a cutting board. Chop the garlic here or press the vegetable through a press.

The ingredients are mixed and supplemented with oregano and black pepper. The components are poured with oil. Additional spices are added if desired.

2. Cabbage is cut vertically into “washers” no more than 1.5 cm thick. One side of each piece is salted.

Place the vegetable on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil and butter.

3. Grease the cabbage with a mixture of spices and herbs. Pour a little water on the sides. Cook in the oven for 30-40 minutes at 190 °C.

If desired, you can sprinkle the cabbage steaks with grated cheese.
