If you prefer potatoes or mashed potatoes as a side dish, you should know about the tricks that help speed up the cooking process of root vegetables.
Some housewives use a microwave oven for this task.
In this case, the potatoes should remain in their skins. They are washed, treated with vegetable oil and placed in the microwave at maximum temperature for literally five minutes. But there is another method that will allow you to cook potatoes so that they remain tender and tasty.
It is best to initially chop the root vegetable into cubes. If you plan to make mashed potatoes, this solution has its advantages. If the potatoes are to be an independent side dish, they should be cut into at least two halves.
Then put the potatoes in the pan and pour in some water. The liquid should just cover the vegetable. Also, don't forget to add some salt.
Wait until the liquid boils and add about forty grams of butter. Cover the container with a lid and cook the potatoes until done.
Typically this takes 10 to 15 minutes.
