The onion will retain vitamins, but will not spoil the dish with its excessive bitterness.
Many salads cannot be prepared without onions, which give the dish a special piquancy.
But the taste of the vegetable leaves much to be desired. It is impossible to eat such a dish without wincing.
Bitterness can be caused by various factors. It may be a varietal feature or cultivation nuances. Incorrect storage of the vegetable may lead to this result.
It is very easy to fix the defect. It will take only one minute. There are two options for how to do it.
The peeled and chopped onion is placed in a colander and placed under a stream of warm water (no more than 60 °C). The vegetable is held under the stream of water for about 40-60 seconds.
The second trick is no less simple. The chopped vegetable is sprinkled with salt, and then placed in a microwave oven for 15-20 seconds. After processing, the onion is washed with warm water and dried.
These two gentle tricks will remove unnecessary bitterness, preserve vitamins and give the vegetable a delicate and soft taste.
