This version of one of the most popular drinks will not appeal to everyone.

Kalmyk cuisine can amaze an unprepared person. Not only the dishes but also the drinks are surprising.

In Kalmykia, tea is something between food and drink. Alexander Pushkin wrote about an exotic version of the drink in his "Caucasian Diary".

Tea is brewed from puer bricks. Salt, milk and the main ingredient – mutton fat are added. The recipe originated many centuries ago, so it has actually won the fame of a folk one.

This combination of ingredients may seem strange to many, but for Kalmyks it is a popular drink that quenches thirst and dulls the feeling of hunger.

It is noteworthy that only 1% of people like this tea the first time. The taste amazed Pushkin, but in general the poet pointed out that the drink is not for everyone. The Kalmyks themselves say that the real taste of the drink can only be understood with regular use.
