How to Make Homemade Basturma: All You Need Is Chicken Breast and Spices

Basturma from chicken fillet, prepared with your own hands, turns out to be surprisingly tasty, tender and aromatic.

To prepare it, you will need a minimum of steps and ingredients, namely:

  • 500 g chicken fillet,
  • 2 tablespoons dry spices,
  • 3 tablespoons of salt.

The first thing you need to do is prepare the chicken breast. It needs to be washed, freed from excess fat, films and veins, and then dried with a paper towel.

Add a spoonful of salt to the container in which you will cook the basturma, and then place the fillet there. Sprinkle the future snack with the remaining salt on top and put it in the refrigerator for 12 hours.

When the time is up, rinse the breast under running water and pat dry with a paper towel.

Rub the chicken with spices, then wrap it in two layers of cheesecloth and tie it with thread.

After this, you can hang the basturma in a well-ventilated room with a low temperature (not higher than 10 degrees). Important: protect the meat from sunlight.

The fillet should spend 2-5 days here, after which the basturma is considered ready.
