How to Make Real Custard: Just 3 Ingredients

To make real custard, the same one that citizens of the USSR last ate, you only need three ingredients.

The technology itself will not cause any complications, and what to do with the cream is up to everyone. You can eat it or use it for filling homemade confectionery.

Most often, this cream was used to make tubes, cakes, pastries or rolls.

To prepare you will need:

  • 1 cup cream;
  • 4 tbsp sugar;
  • 4 eggs.

How to cook

First, you need to separate the whites from the yolks. It is better to do this while the eggs are cold – this way the yolk remains denser and almost does not spread.

Then the yolks need to be mixed in a separate bowl with sugar until completely dissolved and, when ready, pour in the cream.

Then bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly.

Next, you need to beat the whites separately and add them to the hot milk-egg mixture directly on the fire. It is important to quickly stir the mixture right away.

From this point on, the cream is cooked for another three minutes, after which it can be removed from the stove.

At first it will be airy, but after it cools in the refrigerator it may turn out to be “gelatinous”.
