Parents are often advised to avoid total control in their relationships with their teenager.

But given that part of the life of modern youth is spent on social networks, how can you not check their content and find out what groups and chats your child is communicating in?

In a conversation with NSN, child psychologist Irina Taranova spoke about whether it is possible to check the content of a teenager’s social networks.

The specialist drew attention to the influence the Internet has on a child’s psyche and called for checking children’s social networks.

She believes that a child’s condition is determined not only by appearance and clothing, but by a complex of various characteristics.

These include social media posts, wearing black, being withdrawn, having trouble coping with stress, and experiencing emotional instability and mood swings.

Commenting on the tragedy that occurred in a Russian school, the psychologist noted that no one from the teenager’s circle noticed anything suspicious in his behavior.

At the same time, the expert recalled deadly games that are popular among teenagers, as well as groups that manipulate children.

Therefore, parental control must be in place, the specialist insists, especially in cases where the child spends 4 hours or more on social networks.

Parents should be sure that their child is not a member of any dangerous groups on social networks. Periodically, you need to open the browser history and see what the child is visiting. If everything is fine there, control can be relaxed, the specialist concluded.
