How to Teach a Child to Ride a Two-Wheeled Bike: The Easy Way

You can teach your child to ride a two-wheeled bicycle from the time he or she turns 4-5 years old.

To do this, you will need to go with your son or daughter to a park or stadium – you need to find a wide and level path.

Show your child how to get on and off the bike, how to hold and turn the handlebars, and explain the principle of pedaling.

Let the young rider first try riding the bike like a balance bike – pushing off the ground with his feet. Then help him get the pedals into the correct position so that when the child places his foot on them, he moves forward.

You can try riding: let the child sit and pedal, and an adult lightly hold him by the armpits or shoulders (not by the seat).

When you feel that your baby is able to maintain balance, you can gradually release him.

When the child has ridden 5-10 meters without support, teach him to start and brake, and it is better to teach him to brake when the child is rolling the bike, rather than riding it - this way he will be able to feel how the brake works.

During the first runs, it is worth being close to the children in order to have time to catch them if such a need arises.

Earlier we talked about why small children shouldn’t watch TV .
