Why Children Act Up and How Parents Should Do the Right Thing: Don't Say You Know the Answer

Every parent thinks that a child’s whims are connected either with excessive attention, when the child grows up spoiled, or with age-related changes.

However, any whim is just the tip of the iceberg. Therefore, the problem should be given a little more attention.

Experts have revealed what is really behind tantrums and children’s “I want”.

First, lack of attention

Parents cannot devote all their time to their children. This is fair, because adults have to go to work, keep order, and solve other everyday problems.

But children get used to the attention of adults very quickly and win it in every possible way: from hysterics to bad behavior.

Once children achieve a goal, they instantly learn the tested algorithm and use it everywhere.

Parents need to remember that spending time together does not only mean playing games and having fun. Start cleaning, cooking, or doing other things with your children.

Secondly, the parents are to blame

If one parent forbids everything, and the other allows it, then such inconsistency in actions prevents children from learning and following family rules.

Parents need to agree on something in common and strictly adhere to these agreements, as well as support each other in raising naughty children.

Thirdly, age

Children go through several critical periods, not just one, adolescence.

Experts say that children's psyche is subject to changes first at the age of one, then three and seven. At this time, children begin to oppose their opinions to those of adults, hence the whims.

Parents can only be patient, because a much more difficult period lies ahead – adolescence.

And the last thing that harms is parental permissiveness.

At first, children are allowed to do everything, then at a certain point, moms and dads realize their mistakes, but it’s too late.

It’s easier to immediately restrain yourself and not follow the lead of a child who skillfully manipulates adult weaknesses.
