Understanding the reason why teenagers refuse to listen to their parents is easier for those who remember themselves in their youth.

But science does not take personal memories into account, and so scientists conducted a very curious experiment, studying the brain of a teenager using MRI.

The research was conducted by staff from Stanford School of Medicine.

Using functional MRI scanning, they studied the brain of a teenager who refused to obey his parents.

Why teenagers don't listen to their parents

It turned out that it wasn't a matter of principles, convictions, or even laziness. It was just that the teenage brain perceives the voice of parents differently.

But not only the parents, but in general the voices of all close people, including the mother’s.

Changes appear after 12 years, and the phenomenon is explained by the fact that the teenager’s brain centers are activated by unfamiliar voices.

Conclusions of scientists

Teenage disobedience or disobedience, according to researchers, should be considered one of the signs of healthy maturation.

It is as if the brain gives a signal that allows teenagers to successfully interact with the world around them.

In other words, this is how a stable social connection is formed outside the family circle.

Earlier we talked about the difficulties that an older child faces in a family.
