As is well known, Soviet principles of raising children differed in many ways from modern ones.

In particular, there was a serious emphasis on health. We tell you what habits Soviet grandparents had that helped healthy children grow up in the USSR.

How Children Were Raised in the USSR

Firstly, hardening. Children in the Soviet Union were hardened always and everywhere, even in kindergartens – their feet were doused with cold water.

At the same time, Soviet grandmothers closely monitored that the child was dressed warmly.

Children were also forced to strictly adhere to a regime: go to bed early, get up early, eat at certain hours, etc.
