The question of at what age a child can be given a phone and other gadgets still remains open.

Foreign pediatric associations insist on eliminating the use of mobile devices for children under two years of age and limiting the duration of gadget use to one hour per day for children aged 3 to 5 years.

Belarusian experts also believe that the use of gadgets can negatively affect a child’s development, reports 1prof.by .

What recommendations do Belarusian specialists give?

As reported by the Minsk City Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, sanitary and epidemiological requirements have been developed to reduce the risk of harm to children's health when working with gadgets.

For children under 5 years of age, classes using electronic learning tools are not conducted.

In classes with the senior group of preschoolers (5 to 6 years old), educators are required to adhere to established requirements.

Hygienists recommend avoiding portable electronic devices (tablets, laptops, netbooks, e-books, etc.) for visual learning.

The use of modern technologies in the learning process is allowed no more than twice a week. During one lesson, fixation of the gaze on the screen should not exceed 10 minutes.

It is not recommended that multiple children receive information from one device.

Play activities using gadgets should only be carried out under the supervision of an adult.

Computer games with violent content and intense tempo are prohibited.

Experts also recommend limiting computer games for children of primary school age (6 to 9 years old) to 10 minutes.
