The benefits of coffee are undeniable - studies show that it reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke, increases muscle mass and prolongs life.
Recently, American scientists have discovered what time of day is best to drink coffee for longevity.
The results of their study were published in the European Heart Journal, Moika 78 reports.
From 1999 to 2018, scientists collected dietary data from 40,725 people.
Study participants reported the types and quantities of all foods and beverages consumed and the timing of their consumption.
Scientists divided the time of coffee consumption into three periods: morning (from 4 am to noon), afternoon (from noon to 5 pm) and evening (from 5 pm to 4 am).
The researchers also calculated the average frequency of coffee consumption.
Drinking coffee in the morning has been found to reduce the risk of death from all causes.
Higher volumes of the drink consumed were associated with a lower risk of death, but again only among those who drank it in the morning.
Those who drank a lot of coffee during the day had a reduced risk of death from heart disease and blood vessels, but not from cancer.
As for drinking coffee in the evening, it provokes insomnia and negatively affects health in general, scientists warned.
