Smokers, health status and the situation with personnel in the Belarusian healthcare system – Belstat reported on how things are with all this in the country.

As for those who like to smoke, the National Statistical Committee notes a decrease in their numbers.

According to the data he published, last year only 22.1% of smokers were recorded among the total number of residents of Belarus aged 16 and older.

Compared to 2000, the number of Belarusian smokers has decreased by 4.2%, according to Belstat figures.

As for the issue of public health, the department points out that 93.1% of the republic’s residents are satisfied with their health.

In addition, an increase in projected life expectancy at birth was recorded compared to 2000 – from 69 to 74.6 years.

For men, the figure increased from 63.4 to 69.3 years, and for women, from 74.7 to 79.7 years.

Belstat also reported a significant increase in the indicator for the provision of medical workers per 10 thousand people.

Compared to 2000, the number of specialist doctors has increased from 46 to 61 people, and the number of mid-level medical personnel has increased from 123.2 to 136.5.
