"Widow's hump" may indicate hormonal imbalances and endocrine diseases.
Plastic surgeon Denis Sergeev warned about this.
The expert listed the reasons for the appearance of the “widow’s hump” in a conversation with the publication “Gazeta.Ru” .
"Dowager's hump" is a collection of fatty tissue in the area between the upper back and neck.
Sometimes it appears as a result of poor posture and muscle imbalance, for example, due to constantly tilting your head while working at a computer.
Secondly, dorsocervical fat deposits can appear due to hormonal imbalances.
In women, a “dowager’s hump” may occur as a result of a decrease in estrogen levels during menopause; in men, it may occur due to a disruption in testosterone metabolism.
Also, the causes may be endocrine diseases, for example, Cushing's syndrome, genetic predisposition, obesity.
In addition, the problem may be related to connective tissue changes.
Sometimes a dense capsule of connective tissue forms around the fat deposits, Sergeev explained.
According to him, such deposits are more pronounced and less amenable to correction.
